Hi,

My name is Tad McCully, I'm a pro drummer who grew up here in nyc. I've been teaching in the New York area both privately and in schools since 1993. I offer one-on-one lessons either at your home or in my studio in the Music Building, located at 39th st. & 8th ave (one block from train station). My lessons are well-planned, quality affordable studies, lasting 30 (ages 6-12), 45, or 60 minutes (adults). I also offer practice time, on my Yamaha studio kit, at a very affordable hourly rate--this is available to weekly students only.

In my lessons I cover 'beginner' topics such as GRIP, RUDIMENTS (stickings) and BASIC READING of rhythmic notation (don't worry, it's not that difficult or scary) on the snare drum. Basic drumset skills are also covered, such as 3- and 4-way coordination and you will ultimately graduate to playing along with sequenced music (which I write for students), as well as your own CDs (teacher approved).

For more advanced students, I focus more on hand technique, reading (both advanced snare drum studies and chart reading for drum set) and fill/soloing vocabulary. Tuning and set up is a specialty of mine, and I have spent hours and hours studying, learning and mastering both. (believe it or not, the greatest drummers generally all set up their drums/cymbals in a similar way.)

HERE ARE SOME OF MY CURRENT STUDENTS ('drum recital' 4/20/14) :

3-year student: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6ofTEn-ox0
4-year student: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbmKW9-GuCc
6-year student: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18b07PV7_aY
(None of these people had picked up a drum stick before!)

I HAVE ALSO TAUGHT: Ray Kelly (NYPD Police Commissioner)
Koren Zailckas (NY Times best-selling author)
Eric Thal (movie actor)
Haley Joel Osment (movie actor)
Please check me out at: http://www.reverbnation.com/tadmccully (mp3s, bio, videos, etc.) ALSO: http://www.become-a-real-drummer.com

**I NOW ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS AND PAYPAL.

TEACHING / PRACTICE HOURS:

Monday: 3:30-9:00pm
Tuesday: 3-7pm
Wednesday: 7-10pm
Thursday: 3:30-9pm
Saturday: 4-8pm
Sunday: noon-6pm

Do you sing Rock, Metal, Pop, Punk but don't want to go to a vocal coach with an Opera, Jazz or a Musical Theater background? Are you a Classically trained singer looking to do contemporary music and having trouble transitioning style? Are you a beginner or musician and don't know where to start to learn how to sing?

Don't be mislead by voice teachers or coaches touting their degrees in "Music". That doesn't qualify them to teach voice! A piece of paper means nothing if you haven't proved yourself in the real world singing in front of thousands and know how to actually teach someone what you know and can do. Learn from a professional not only out there singing, but an expert in the field of vocal science and an innovator in contemporary extreme singing techniques.

My name is Kevin Richards and I'm a currently performing, professional Rock singer with over 20 years experience in the music business. I've sang to over 80,000 people in my career. I'm also the author and creator of the "Breaking the Chains" CD Vocal program sold in 90 countries worldwide. I help contemporary singers learn new, extreme singing techniques. Unlike other teachers, I don't want to change your vocal style - I want you to sound like you - only better!

* Extend Your Range
* Eliminate Your Break - no more cracks or breaks between notes
* Increase Your Power - deliver every song with conviction & presence
* Develop Stamina - sing for hours without losing your voice

Don't be content to just be a great singer - Become a great performer.

Step-By-Step Lessons in
ACOUSTIC GUITAR PLAYING

If you'd like to learn how to play acoustic guitar, I provide structured, comprehensive, step-by-step lessons for absolute beginners to experienced players. Lessons take place afternoons and evenings in my Lower East Side apartment, and include instruction in:

  • NOTE PLAYING
  • CHORD PLAYING
  • STRUMMING
  • FINGERPICKING
  • TABLATURE
  • CHORD STRUCTURE
  • SONG PLAYING
  • WRITING YOUR OWN SONGS
  • MUSIC READING
  • MUSIC THEORY
  • DYNAMIC PLAYING
  • PLAYING IN THE STYLE/S OF YOUR CHOICE

    ...and much more.

    You'll develop your playing skills, learn concepts and techniques, and, at lesson's end, have easy access to what you've learned through the use of take-home materials you'll be given, that you can use to practice with at home.

    What some of those who've learned with me have said:

    "Thanks John - I'm playing right now - I just LOVE my guitar and playing.. Thanks to you! I will try to come on Monday night after work if that is OK with you. Thank you - you are really a great instructor.... it really inspired me once again. :-) "
    -Mary L.

    "I liked your training. I will reschedule for next Saturday, August 7 @ 12pm."
    -Diana B.

    "John is a great, patient teacher. As an adult with absolutely no experience, I was hesitant to start learning, but John has taken me much further than I thought I'd go. After just six months, I've learned songs, and my guitar-playing friends have been amazed at the depth of theory and technique I've picked up. I highly recommend John to beginners, and his depth of knowledge would be great for practiced guitarists!"
    -Bob C.

    "I just wanted to let you know that I liked your lesson, thank you very much, and I would definitely like to continue having you as my teacher...you are a great instructor."
    -Eric

    "I enjoyed our lesson today, and would like to schedule another one for next week. Does Wednesday at 8 work again for you?"
    -Rob E.

    "Man, you wouldn't happen to have any of your famous chord progression sheets laying around would you? I am looking for new material and your lessons always clicked with me. I figured out my first song today!"
    -Brandon W.

    “All the printed chord charts and explanations you gave me are really helpful, I am starting to understand some of the theory that you talked about in class, it's kind of awesome.”

    Michelle specializes in creating highly customized lesson plans centered around your individual voice and goals. Focus is always placed on breathing and vocal technique, but your objectives may vary:

    * Basic - Intermediate - Advanced Vocal Technique
    * Healthy Sound Production
    * Expansion of Range
    * Breath Support
    * Building Audition Book Reperatoire
    * Audition Prep
    * Performance Techniques
    * Ear Training
    * Harmonization
    * Reading Music
    * Various Music Styles

    Convenient location in Sunnyside via 7 train! Easy access to highway!

    From the very first time I met Michelle, I felt comfortable and completely at ease. Not only did I find her personable and professional, but I felt confident that she would actually be able to help me attain my vocal needs and goals. From extracting self confidence to exploring strengths and weaknesses, to uncovering the perfect audition song, and pinpointing placement of sound, she has been a focal point of knowledge. Her expertise in the physical areas where sound is produced will amaze and inspire you--and you'll be shocked to find that knowing those things makes a difference! Michelle's patience and passion for helping is evident in every lesson. She is firm but fun. The ability she has to mold the human voice is astonishing and at times I have found I don't even recognize myself! She pushes you to do your best and will go to great lengths to ensure your comfort and overall happiness. - Mandy TV/film/theater actress New York, NY

    I had always wanted to sing. But I didn't have the confidence that I could actually sing, and I remember being scared to death to go to the first lesson. The fact that Michelle was so warm and welcoming right away allowed me to relax. She made a point to stress what I was doing right when we began our basic exercises. My confidence increased, and after only the first four classes I noticed improvement. Michelle remembers your tendencies and can get you to see and correct things that may be holding you back. She knows how to get you to produce sound in a way that will further your development. Three and a half years later, after maybe 100 lessons or so, the improvement I have noticed is dramatic. I have sung for my mother, my father, complete strangers, and friends. I have developed the awareness to correct myself when I practice on my own. This is invaluable because, as Michelle has told me repeatedly, the more your practice, and practice knowledgeably, the greater your improvements will be. What it has done for my confidence and how it has changed my life is impossible to put into words, but you'll understand it after your first month of lessons. - Tony, Casting Director, New York, NY
