I am a New York City based Jazz singer and have been teaching singing for over 2 decades and performing for longer. My teaching methods often bring about fast and dramatic results!
I have many tools to offer that build the confidence so necessary for singers. Some areas of focus include whole body breathing, how to warm-up, vocal technique, ear training, musicianship skills, performance skills & singing the songs you love. Vocal exercises focus on opening and freeing the voice, as you become more aware of resonance areas, tuning up (where are those pitches, really?)strength, range and much more. Lessons are individualized to cater to specific needs. I often accompany my students on piano as they work on making songs their own.
For those students who are interested singing jazz we delve into to world of free improvisation and scat singing, and creating a solo.
I work with singers of all levels and genres of music with the exception of classical.
I offer performance opportunities to my students. Please visit my website: www.dorilevine.com

Lessons For Children
Lessons for children involves finding the music that excites and inspires them, while teaching them the skills they need in order to progress at the instrument. It is important for a student to make progress, and feel good about the progress they make.

A typical lesson involves weekly assignments in a lesson and theory book, supplemental games and activities for ear training and note reading, and learning a diverse repertoire of songs. We teach a curriculum of music that runs the gamut from Bach and Beethoven to Gershwin, Queen, Radiohead, and Katy Perry. Lessons involve finding music that the student relates to and enjoys, while also exposing them to new music they may never have heard before.

Lessons for Adults
Adult lessons focus on the interests and objectives of the student. Lessons can be customize to fit your schedule and your goals. Some adult students may be honing their craft in order to perform publicly, while others are looking for a fun and creative hobby. Your schedule is busy, and we are sensitive to the value of your time. Many adult students have bad memories of strict piano teachers and rulers across the knuckles. Our teachers are not like that at all, they are very patient and never get angry.

A typical lesson involves determining what you want to get out of your piano playing experience, and finding fun and creative ways to get you there. Many adult students rediscover their love for classical music, while others explore new musical realms in jazz, rock, and composition. Any musical avenue is fair game. We also teach synthesizers, electronic music, sampling, music production, and remixing.

Have you ever wanted to improve your intonation, time, accuracy, speed, knowledge, sight reading, memorizing ability, etc? I can help you with all of that, and also make it easier for you to express what you want to say on the bass. I've taught hundreds of students, and can help you become a better musician and more in control of your instrument.

I have a degree in music, and studies with jazz greats Henry Grimes, Reggie Workman, Cameron Brown & Mark Helias, and classical masters Marji Danilow and Tony Falanga. With over 1000 concerts in the past five years, I have extensive experience with many musical styles, and will help you play YOUR music the best you can, no judgements on style or taste.

If you want to become a better bassist, if you want to learn to switch from electric bass, or if you just want to learn more about how to practice, and get the most out of that, send me an email!

The absolute best way to become a great guitar player is to study with a guitar teacher who:

    1. Will show you how to apply and integrate everything you are learning into your guitar playing, so you can become a more creative musician

    2. Will NOT simply ‘give you things to play/practice’ and instead will design your lessons to be 100% based around improving the skills that will move you towards your goals

    3. Will help you to get serious results from your practice time, instead of just ‘going through the motions’, so that you can become the guitarist you want to be much faster than you ever imagined possible

    4. Will show you precisely what YOU must learn and practice to learn guitar the way you want

    5. Has a long list of happy students whom he has already taught to reach their musical goals

Watch this video to learn exactly what you must do to finally see big results in your playing: http://tomhess.net/CorrespondenceGuitarLessons.aspx
