Job Title Head of Real Estate - Technical Services
Job Function and Key Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities:
. Head of Technical Services and Chief Real Estate Appraiser reporting directly to the Head of the Real Estate Department; responsible for appraisal, architectural, engineering and environmental activities.
. Formulates and executes policy for valuation, architectural, engineering, construction and environmental issues.
. Guides the selection of third party consultants.
. Supervises and reviews the work of the architects, engineers, appraisers and the preparation of Appraisal Approval Memos for all new loans and equities.
. Oversees the progress of the annual Inspection/Evaluation program.
. Interacts with industry experts to maintain a current directory of competent valuation, architectural, construction, environmental and seismic specialists.
. Provide on-going risk assessment for the existing portfolio.

Required Qualifications Minimum experience required for this position is twenty (20) years with at least fifteen (15) should be in commercial appraisal. A fee appraiser background is preferred and it should be significantly weighted towards: institutional-grade real estate; national exposure; specific knowledge of various property types and how construction features (or lack of same) affect value; the techniques used to value a variety of property types (i.e., office, apartment, industrial, retail, and lodging).
Both a baccalaureate degree and an MAI designation are required. The CRE, CCIM or AIA designations would assist further in peer recognition, networking opportunities and continuing education. The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and computer expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel and Argus. A degree in architecture, engineering or construction management and/or related work experience is required.
The position demands negotiation skills and considerable flexibility in dealing with priorities. Extensive decision-making experience is needed since making sound investments with Company funds to achieve maximum yield while maintaining quality requires evaluating numerous elements and alternatives which almost always involves extensive research and analysis. Maximum performance requires an employee who has a strong work ethic, is creative and able to establish new methods and procedures to meet the demands of change.
