Description Provide corporate sourcing services: identify relevant suppliers, participate in supplier validation, gather and distill internal customer requirements, solicit and evaluate proposals, perform pricing analyses, negotiate purchase terms, monitor, measure, and manage supplier performance. Maximize the value of purchases to enhance competitive advantage or reduce total costs. Manage major supplier relationships and internal customer relationships to maximize contract value and cost savings, as applicable. Recommend and implement solutions for potential standardization and consolidation, leverage opportunities, outsourcing/ insourcing, and procurement process improvements. Handle sourcing-related aspects of corporate actions such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or spin-offs. Support corporate social responsibility initiatives such as environmental and conservation issues, the use of minority or women-owned business, etc. Adhere to and conform to all corporate policies and code of conduct. Stay abreast of and apply prevailing industry requirements and regulations in work product. Confer with suppliers and attorneys on questionable contract terms. The role will involve negotiating deals of high complexity and contracting for commodities and services required by a financial institution including, but not limited to, professional services, consulting services, procurement of information technology equipment, software licensing and maintenance, and business applications software licensing. The role will involve negotiating application service provider (ASP) and other outsourcing agreements as well as associated terms and conditions, including service level agreements. It will entail handling many transactions of various sizes concurrently and will be assigned to negotiate transactions for various lines of business throughout The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation. Local travel may be required from time to time. The role will utilize cross-functional teams chartered to maximize the value of purchased goods and services in accordance with business line specifications, while mitigating risk. It involves all aspects of the procurement process including, but not limited to, prequalification of potential suppliers using RFI and RFP techniques, proposal evaluation including complex pricing analysis, negotiation of high dollar/high complexity contracts/agreements, presentation of results to senior management. The role utilizes various types of pricing structures as well as associated contract terms, conditions, and legal ramifications. The preferred candidate may possess: * Strong background in Information Technology goods and services * Ability to work independently to achieve objectives without significant guidance * Ability to negotiate price and contractual terms and conditions including but not limited to service level agreements Qualifications Minimum education - Bachelor s degree and CPM desirable.
