Family-owned mainstay of historic Harlem, Make My Cake’s two full-service bakery and cafe locations offer assorted confections while specializing in novelty cakes, and southern signature delectables such as Ultimate Red Velvet and Sweet Potato Cheesecake.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Typically high school diploma or GED certificate.

• Some preparation and previous work-related skill, knowledge and experience. For example, city knowledge and driving route planning would be greatly beneficial.

• Driver’s license and clean driving record.

• Solid English understanding, reading, and writing skills


DUTIES

• Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.

• Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.

• Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.

• Present receipts for goods delivered (which are prepaid at the bakery or over the phone).

• Load and unload vans, or automobiles.

• Verify the contents of load inventory against delivery papers.

• Turn in receipts and money received from deliveries.

• Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of delivery goods, or billing statements in accordance with regulations.

• Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions.

• Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.

• Verbally contribute stories about Make My Cake for the monthly bakery newsletter to Assistant Manager.

 Problem Sensitivity and Solving — The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and taking proper actions steps to arrive at solutions.

 Self Control — Job requires maintaining composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations.


 Cooperation — Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude.


 Time Management — Managing one’s own time.


 Stress Tolerance — Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations, e.g. traffic.


 Communicating with Supervisors, Peers and Clients — Effectively providing information to supervisors, peers and clients by telephone, in written form, or in person.
