Sales Engineer - Server Storage Virtualization Location: New York, NY Other Locations: *Not Applicable* ID: 7687 # of openings: 1 Description Sales Engineer- Server, Storage, and Virtualization The Sales Engineer – Servers, Storage and Virtualization (SSV) is responsible for providing advanced pre-sales support for SSV products and services by working with Sales Specialists and Account Executives to architect, design, propose, and close both existing and new opportunities. Additionally, the Sales Engineer will provide support and leadership in SSV design and architecture as well as provide product updates and advice to Insight clients. The Sales Engineer will also present recommendations to clients regarding SSV configurationsand will be responsible for the development of the project scope and the development of the proposals. Successful candidates should also have some experience in pre-sales support for networking products and services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): * Provides advanced presales support for server, storage and virtualization opportunities * Ability to understand the client’s business objectives, requirements and technical needs. * Ability to understand and explain many different technologies and to communicate technical concepts in non-technical terms * Participating in client calls with Sales Specialists and Account Executives * Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints * Ability to translate complex business requirements into Network solutions. * Developing overall Network solutions including high-level design, statement of work, and bills of materials. * Assist Sales Specialists and Account Executives with presenting solutions to client. * Providing advanced presales support for internal teams for networking solutions. * Providing advice regarding architectural questions, product prerequisites, product features, etc. * Assisting Design Associates teammates with BOM development for Network solutions. * Assisting Sales Specialists and Account Executives with designing Network solutions. * Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key partners. * Attending key partner events and training sessions. * Genuine interest in technology and a strong desire to continuously learn * Strong research and analytical ability * Ability to work independently and possesses strong time management and prioritization skills * Continued training to maintain expertise and willingness to rapidly obtain certification in new products * Excellent presentation skills and ability to effectively present to all levels of an organization * Excellent internal and external customer service skills. * Excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to follow up proactively on Sales opportunities. * Ability to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to sales and clients and demonstrate attention to detail * Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment. * Maintain professional relationships with teammates, partners and clients and work collaboratively as part of a team sales effort Travel required within assigned territory (up to 25-30%) EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE * Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from a four year college or university, related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience * SSV/Data Center Industry Certification preferred * 5 years experience with server, storage and virtualizationtechnologies * 2 year minimum experience with HP, EMC, Netapp, Hitachi and/or VMWare based technologies * Demonstrated experience in technical presales required * Experience with networking solutions in a pre sales capacity is a plus.
