Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) Distribution is responsible for selling GSAM products and services both directly to institutions and, through third party channels, to markets around the world. GSAM applies insights and risk management expertise to help institutional and individual investors with their financial goals. We focus on building and maintaining long-term client relationships and managing client assets using our core strengths of insight, ability and responsibility.
Institutional Distribution works to develop and execute thoughtful investment solutions for $335 billion worth of institutional client assets under supervision across the globe. Our diverse client base includes corporate and public pension funds, foundations and endowments, insurers, financial institutions and governments. With the goal of increasing assets and revenues of the Firm, Sales teams are responsible for selling a broad spectrum of institutional products, including hedge funds, private equity, fixed income and equities. In addition, they collaborate with clients through conferences and client presentations on institutional topics; including asset allocation, risk budgeting and asset/liability management. They work closely with our Business Development and Strategic Marketing teams to ensure that our presentation materials, request for proposals, thought leadership and critical communications enhance the client experience.
We are looking for a highly motivated team player for a sales position on the Canadian institutional team within GSAM US Institutional Sales. Primary responsibilities are (1) to develop new business for GSAM investment strategies among existing institutional clients and prospects in Canada, (2) to work with Institutional Client Relationship Management to retain the channel?s existing business and (3) work closely with USI?s Consultant team to help develop and foster stronger field consultant relationships in the region.
RESPONSIBILITIES
?Develop new business opportunities with Canadian institutional clients
?Maintain regular dialogue with prospects, continually learning about their needs and identifying solutions that capitalize on Goldman Sachs? capabilities.
?Maintain regular dialogue with existing clients to review their investments while continually seeking cross-sell opportunities.
?Lead clients/prospects through the sales cycle, anticipating questions/requests and coordinating with the product and consultant teams to ensure successful closing of new business.
?Develop product expertise to facilitate detailed communication of GS strategies to a sophisticated investor audience. Products include strategies within equities, fixed income, commodities, currencies and alternative investments as well as multi-asset class custom mandates.
?Work closely with USI consultant coverage team to help facilitate more frequent communications and dialogue with key Canadian consultants.
?Work with Legal, Compliance, Account Implementation and Client Relationship Management to ensure smooth start-up of new relationships.
?Mentor supporting team members to increase knowledge base and facilitate their career development*?5 years + of financial services sales experience preferred
?Undergraduate degree
?Series 7, 63, 3 and 24 required*?Strong communication and presentation skills
?Strong organizational skills
?Proven ability and interest in navigating a large investment organization to devise thoughtful investment strategies for clients and prospects
?Proven commercial success and proven ability to build client relationships
?Self-motivated with ability to ?cold call? successfully
?Client management and business development skills
?Existing relationships and familiarity with the Canadian market preferred
?Willingness to maintain consistent travel schedule, frequently 2 to 4 days per week
?Strong familiarity with fixed income and alternative investment strategies preferred
?Ability to build the trust and confidence of colleagues working within a team-centric environment
