I’m looking for someone to assume my lease through February 2014, as I just accepted a new job in Oregon. Spacious 1,000 sq. foot, 2-bedroom, 2-bath penthouse apartment loaded with amenities. You will, of course, have the option to extend the lease starting March 1.

Full-size washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave all included in unit. Granite countertops, garbage disposal, individually controlled heating and AC, floor-to-ceiling windows and amazing views from the building’s top floor. Please see link to attached photos.

The building is located at the Octagon on Roosevelt Island. Incredible building. On-site general store, with FiOS internet lounge and ATM, 2,200 sq. foot gym, game/theater room with large-screen and pool table, heated outdoor swimming pool, three elevators, on-site Bright Horizons childcare facility and more. Living on the island, you will also have a Manhattan Address: 888 Main Street, New York, NY 10044.

Six tennis courts are adjacent to the Octagon, as well as a community garden. The building offers dry cleaning and laundry by the pound, valet and housekeeping services are available. The building also has a 24/7 doorman, concierge service and closed-circuit TV security. On-site parking, storage and bike storage are available, and Zipcars also available on site.

The Octagon also has LEED-Silver Certification for excellence in sustainable design and environmentally conscious construction. You can find more information here:

If you’ve never considered Roosevelt Island, you might re-consider. One trip to the island and I was convinced. The island is a great place to catch your breath, as it has a slower pace than the city. But if you need an “adventure fix,” the City is right there.

Roosevelt island is essentially a large green space, with very few cars and incredible views of Manhattan’s entire eastern skyline that you won't find anywhere else. Instead of horns and sirens, you’ll hear seagulls and children playing. Cherry blossoms bloom in the spring. An incredible FDR memorial park was just built on the south end of the island. And there’s a park on the north end with a lighthouse.

The island is instantly accessible via the F-Line, the 58th Street Tram (that runs to 3am) and the Roosevelt Island bridge that connects the island to Long Island City – great for those late nights in the city when you want to grab a cab.
