SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
B and B Mechanic's responsibilities will construct erect, install, and repairs various structures and fixtures consisting of wood, plywood, and wallboard, and masonry using carpenters hand tools and power tools, and conforming to local building codes: Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
-Duties include ability to select specified type of lumber or other materials, prepare layout, usingrule, framing square, and calipers
-Marking cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, and marking gauge,
-Shaping materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes
-Assemble, cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue
-Verification of trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenters level and ability to erect framework for structures and lay subflooring
-Knowledge of, and ability to use masonry tools
-Ability to work with others
-Ability to accurately measure distances using a ruler
-Ability to read ruler and tape measurements
-Knowledge of building and construction practices
-Basic arithmetic skills
-Ability to anticipate and analyze problems and take corrective actions

-Pass a written examination (if applicable)

-Ability to follow instructions

-General safety practice knowledge

-Knowledge of operating and safety rules and standards
-Must be safety conscious concrete work
-Satisfy a background investigation (which includes credit, if applicable), and pass an oral interview, during which the interviewers will further evaluate the applicants qualifications for theposition. Because the selection process is competitive, not all qualified applicants are granted an interview.
-Amtrak may also require the applicant to undergo a physical ability test, and, if the Company extends a conditional offer, may require him or her to undergo a medical examination, which may includetoxicological testing
-Vocational or apprentice training or two years of Construction trade experience (carpentry, welding,masonry,iron worker)
-Must have valid driver's license
-CDL driver's license preferred
-Must have the ability to work various hours, days, shifts and locations
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
Employment Experience Requirements:
3 : 5 years of experience
