Control Officer- Data Mining - Citi (Long Island City, NY)

Title: Control Officer- Data Mining Location: NY-Long Island City The Compliance Data Mining Analytics Officer will be responsible for developing data analytics in support of testing Consumer and Banking Regulations. As part of Compliance Testing, the candidate will work with business teams, compliance officers, and technology in order to understand various regulations and the supporting data and systems. The candidate will then design and implement data analytics as part of an effective Compliance Testing program. The candidate should possess strong analytical and technical skills, and s/he must be comfortable operating in a results driven and fast paced team environment. The candidate will manipulate and analyze data sets across multiple platforms, including Oracle, Cognos, Mainframe (various), SAS, and other databases. The candidate will design analytics, which may become part of a continuous monitoring program. Strong database and/or data analysis skills are a must, and the candidate must have 3 years of applied experience in the area. The ideal candidate will have a strong financial background since the candidate will work with stakeholders as well as design analytics across multiple consumer product areas on a daily basis. For example, the candidate will apply data skills to one specific area, i.e. Real Estate Lending, and then work with others on financial models. S/he must be equally proficient in learning and operating in both areas. The candidate should demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable leading others. Experience managing and leading small teams is a must. The candidate will also need to understand and document their results, effectively perform quality control over the work of others, and capable of communicating complex technical or financial concepts to stakeholders. Experience documenting for litigation, audit, or regulatory exams is a plus. Additional background in compliance, programming, or assurance/audit related fields is preferred, but not required. - College degree or equivalent - 3 years of database or data analysis skills in the Financial Services Industry - Excellent data analytic skills using SQL, T-SQL, or PL/SQL (SQL Server or Oracle) - Talend, Hadoop, Spotfire, Tableau experience a plus - Excellent verbal skills, both written and oral - Proven ability to quickly assimilate and organize large amounts of new information and produce professional products (using Microsoft Outlook tools) - Proven ability to identify possible exceptions based on key risk indicators - Proven ability to understand and document results, including the use of trend analysis - Controls, Assurance/audit, or compliance knowledge is preferred - Identify requirements from regulatory and senior management sources - Create and maintain dashboards to periodically report on key risk, performance and compliance indicators
