Homes for the Homeless - Manhattan, NY

Job Summary

Homes for the Homeless (HFH), a large NYC nonprofit, seeks a custodian for their central offices in Manhattan to maintain a clean and clutter-free workspace.

The custodial worker will report to the Administrative Services Manager, and also work cooperatively with contractors, residents, and co-workers.

Responsibilities Include:

Clean all desks and bathrooms

Refill soap/paper dispensers

Garbage Removal/Trash Liner Replacement

Treatment & Maintenance of all hardwood floors

Repair doors, windows, floors, ceilings and other light maintenance.

Repair, build, or install furniture, shelves, cabinets, countertops, and other fixtures.
Identify and correct damaged or worn electrical components as assigned.

Maintain records of activities including preventative maintenance services and service requests.


Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift objects weighing 10lbs-30lbs

Trade certification preferred

1-2 years minimum related experience

Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools; works with a variety of chemicals including cleaning products, solvents, glues, etc.


Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM


Salary is commensurate with experience.
