Overview

Individuals in this job family play a key role in securing the cyber networks of the financial institutions (FIs) supervised by FRBNY and also help to secure the broader financial services sector cyber ecosystem.

The objectives of this unit are to:

In collaboration with other FRS districts and staff, develop and maintain data analysis and enhanced data analytics capabilities to support and sustain a Risk Analysis Competency and Practice Methodology and enable the Federal Reserve's supervisory community to adequately identify, evaluate, monitor and measure systemic, current and emerging cybersecurity risks, trends and countermeasures impacting the financial services sector.

These data capabilities will:

* Develop and maintain an analysis capability that harnesses data to assess the impact of cyber risks to the financial sector;

* Develop innovative and enhanced data analytics to develop and maintain key measures and indicators to better understand cybersecurity risks from a firm and sector-wide perspective;

* Provide data-driven analysis in response to financial sector cyber vulnerabilities; and

* Develop point-in-time analysis and analytics based on the aggregation of data across multiple perspectives to provide views on the state and impact of cyber risks in the financial sector.

* Candidates should have knowledge and experience with data science concepts and practices in order to develop enhanced, data-driven analytics to support the identification, evaluation, measurement and aggregation of cyber risks. Additionally, prospective candidates should have exceptional analytical and decision making skills with knowledge in cybersecurity risks management, security architectures and cyber controls and countermeasures.

Job Responsibilities;

* Serve as a subject matter expert to identify data sources, design collection methods and implement maintenance processes to support the assessment of cyber risks.

* Support data aggregation, analysis, visualization, and help derive insights from data.

* Conduct proactive in-depth analysis and predictive modeling to uncover hidden patterns.

* Apply quantitative and qualitative techniques to uncover meaningful insights from different data sources.

* Produce analytic reports through repeatable, data-driven, quantitative methods using all available data to influence the direction of cyber policy.

* Develop data-driven analytics to enhance firm and cross-firm analyses that provide insights in systemic, current and emerging cybersecurity risks and trends impacting supervised institutions and the sector as a whole.

* Partner with risk analysts to conduct research using multiple data sources, perform data-driven analysis on financial sector risks and disseminate conclusions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

* Coordinate and collaborate analytic efforts amongst supervisory and intelligence teams during a critical cyber event or crisis.

* Perform or assist with data reviews, data validations, quality control, and data cleaning.

* Develop relationships with subject matter experts and critical internal and external stakeholders in order to appropriately elicit the information required for the work and influence the outcome of resulting decisions.

Job Requirements;

* BS in Data Analytics, Operations Research, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.

* 5 years of experience in data analytics, data science, or closely related field

* Experience with data science concepts and methods to harness and analyze sets of heterogeneous data using analytical and visual tools to support data analytics and predictive modeling capabilities. In particular, prior experience with data warehouses including data modeling, data visualization and reporting and tools such as SQL, ETL, Python, R, link analysis and/or visualization.

* Ability to think outside of the box, apply data-driven approaches to solutions and to learn new approaches to modeling problems.

* Team player with excellent consultative, communication, writing and project management skills.

* Ability to obtain and maintain US Security Clearance.
