Mechancial Engineer - HEPCO INC (Brooklyn, NY)

Long term contract assignment (possibly temp to hire) for an experienced Mechanical Engineer wit a valid NY PE License. Description of Work: Under the supervision of the Director of Engineering Support, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the mechanical engineering aspects of multiple, limited scope, fast paced repair and restoration projects in support of a State of Good Repair program at bus depots throughout the system. Work includes, but is not limited to: Design of operating projects including new construction/rehabilitation of bus depots and outdoor parking lots requiring specific expertise in the following areas: Systems: Environmental controls, HVAC (centralized, decentralized), radiant heating, boilers/furnaces, heat tracing, plumbing & drainage (industrial, sanitary), pumps (fuel, oil, detergent, bulk and waste), oil/water separators, bus wash, water (treatment, reclamation, retention), fans (ventilation, exhaust, tailpipe, air curtains), fueling systems & storage (CNG, Diesel,), bulk fluid systems & storage, facility fueling, fire protection (sprinkler, standpipe), instrumentation & controls, roll up doors, etc. Management: Commissioning, sustainability, LEED Certification, ASHRAE 90.1, Executive Order 111, building/facility management systems, inventory monitoring systems (fuel, bulk fluids, cleaning agents), leak detection systems, spill containment, environmental, life cycle analysis, planning, scheduling, phasing, safety, quality, etc. Qualifications Requirements: Candidate must possess the ability to design mechanical systems as mentioned above including preparation of technical specifications and cost estimate. In addition, candidate must possess in- depth knowledge of the capital and operating construction process in both design and construction field operations and possess an overall ability to function effectively within that process with respect to applying the standards of engineering management while employing excellent analytical, problem solving, project management and effective oral and written communication skills. Proficient in CAD programs such as Bentley Microstation (preferred) and AutoCAD. Superior knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards (ASHRAEINYCINYS Building Codes, etc.). LEED program and commissioning. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office application software (Access, Excel, Power Point, Word).
Requirements: Experience Requirements: Minimum of four (4) years of full-time experience on complex project requiring additional or specific expertise within the discipline of mechanical engineering. Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college will be accepted as equivalent to one year of the full-time experience in mechanical engineering. Licensing Requirements: A valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer. Special Skills/Training Requirements: Proficient in CAD programs such as Bentley Microstation (preferred) and AutoCAD. Superior knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards (ASHRAEINYCINYS Building Codes, etc.). LEED program and commissioning. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office application software (Access, Excel, Power Point, Word). Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid New York State Driver's License.
