Icahn School of Medicine affiliation with Queens Hospital Center,seeks an experienced per-diem radiology technologist to join our team. Toqualify, you must hold current NY State License in Radiology technology.

Under general supervision of licensed Physicians andRadiology Supervisor, performs and/or assists in performing all routineradiologic and fluoroscopic examinations in accordance with establisheddepartmental policies and procedures. Sets up, adjusts, and operates x-rayequipment, selecting proper technical factors to obtain accurate diagnosticradiographs; properly positions and immobilizes patients. Responds to patients'needs as required. Maintains cleanliness of equipment and general working area,stocking clinical supplies. Ensures proper operation of x-ray equipment.Provides instruction to medical students and residents as required. Providescare to patients of all ages/groups in the form of diagnostic testing.

Duties andResponsibilities

Under supervision ofphysicians and Radiology Supervisor, prepares patients and examination areas inaccordance with departmental policies and procedures for administration, asappropriate, of all routine and advanced skeletal, gastrointestinal,genitourinary and chest radiological and fluoroscopic diagnosticexaminations. Sets up, cleans and warmsup x-ray equipment. Observes radiation and equipment safety precautions forequipment maintenance and patient/employee wellbeing. Provides patient orientation prior toexamination session. Loads film in the printer as needed.

Under supervision,performs or assists in performingroutine radiological and fluoroscopic diagnostic evaluations in accordance withestablished clinical protocols. Positions patients in accordance with established procedures andtechniques. Operates and adjustsequipment, determining current settings and monitoring patient and employeeradiation exposure and potential for electric shock; observes safetyguidelines. Responds to patients needsduring testing. May assist in administering opaque media, loading powerinjector and handeling catheters, guide wires and needles under aseptictechnique. Records and codes all applicable examination results and completesall relevant medical documentation; properly labels images in accordance withdefined procedures. May performspecialized diagnostic examinations as permitted by experience/registry.

Provides relatedsupport functions as required. Schedulesexaminations; initiates transportation; maintains examination files andstatistics. May answer telephones forarea and record messages. Maintainsclean work area and equipment and maintains full stock of applicable clinicalsupplies. Properly prepares contrast medical as needed.

Ensures good workingorder of equipment. Troubleshootsroutine equipment problems or seeks technical' assistance for equipmentmalfunctions, keeping supervisor(s) appropriately informed.

Performs other relatedduties as assigned or required as professional special technologist. Trains andorients residents and clinical students from various departments and externalinstitutions. Performs assigned quality assurance tasks under supervision.

Minimum LicensingRequirements

License by New YorkState Department of Health as Radiologic Technologist is mandatory.

Minimum Certification Requirements

ARRT (AmericanRegistry of Radiologic Technology) or like organization certification prefered.
