The successful candidate will be a smart, articulate, detail oriented, resourceful, adaptable, flexible, organized, discreet, cost conscious problem solver who is able to remain calm and continue working under pressure, has an exceptional memory, a good sense of humor, takes ownership and responsibility of tasks, and can act independently or as part of a team as required by the circumstance. The candidate must be able to take and follow instruction, and execute tasks using their skills, experience and good judgment.
General Description
The position provides a full range of paralegal functions, with a focus on trademark licensing and management. Reports directly to the General Counsel. Conducts trademark clearances; manages worldwide trademark portfolio. Manages domain names. Assists in-house and outside counsel in trademark litigation, opposition, and cancellation proceedings. Tracks and works on deadlines. Creates trademark reports.
Primary Functions
- Document Support: under supervision of in house counsel, assist in gathering/preparing documents and information for litigation, cease and desist and other policing letters, long form license agreements.
- Trademark Clearance: conducts online searches; investigations to determine availability of marks and marks in use; reviews watch notices and search reports; oversees deadlines and coordinates with outside counsel in various countries to collect and submit documents; prepares United States trademark documents, manages all deadlines for a global trademark portfolio.
- Docketing: Maintains and updates the computerized record keeping system for all company trademarks, domain names, copyrights, and related agreements.
- Preparing weekly status reports and other trademark related reports, presentations and spreadsheets, as needed.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining the company's internal trademark files.
- Conduct research, compile data, and prepare correspondence for consideration of in-house and outside counsel.
Requirements
- This position requires a solid understanding of and extensive experience in trademark practice throughout the world and a willingness to coordinate with overseas counsel during their work-days / in their time-zones.
- It is essential that the successful candidate be proficient with: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); MAC computers; internet research; WebTMS or other trademark database, ability to learn other programs as needed quickly.
- At least 5 years experience, ideally with an in-house legal department.
- Bachelor's Degree (experience in lieu of degree will be considered).

Full Time: must be flexible to work differing hours based on workload.
