Drummer / bandmate wanted by established original band with UK '77 Punk influence (Stranglers, Sex Pistols, Clash, Cock Sparrer, Sham 69, Cockney Rejects, early Damned, UK Subs, etc., etc.) along with some some Pop Reggae, Pub Rock, and progressive sound with lots of electronic (guitar synth, keyboards, sub bass, digital multi-effects). Our average age is 45.
Must be: over 30 years old, an NYC area resident, with pro equipment, no other band commitments and an avid Punk music fan. Ideally we'd like someone who is over 40 years old with working knowlege of electronic percussion, moderate live and recording experience, someone with some grey in their hair and a chip on their shoulder, however this is negotiable. *If we've heard from you before we don't want to hear from you again.* See/hear our MySpace page for more info: www.myspace.com/maninblack ![]()

Learn to play the BASS-WITH SOME FEELING!posted: November 24, 2009, 05:43 PM

Learning to play the bass can seem like the easiest thing in the world, but you are sorely mistaken you accept this commonly accepted belief. The bass is what fleshes out your songs, and it should not be played like a giant kid's guitar. I have played bass in numerous bands, from hardcore punk to gospel. I have over 15 years of playing experience and over 10 years of teaching experience when it comes to the bass.
Now, I can teach you sight reading, improv, scales, and dexterity exercises, but you need to be willing to put in the work if you're going to be a monster bass player. Most of my students have been kids from the ages of 6-14, and they have all gone on to start their own little bands or to play in their school's band. I require that you have your own bass, your own amp to practice on at home, a metronome, and a book of my choosing. As far as rates go, my lesson is more affordable the more people you bring with you. I charge $40/hour for one student, $50/hour if it's two students, $60/hour if it's three, and $15 per student if it's 5 or more. This has worked out great in the past when parents have more than one child interested in learning how to play an instrument. Lessons can take place either in your home or at my studio in Williamsburg. I look forward to working with you. Please feel free to call me at 347.706.2936 if you have any questions. -Tony • Location: Brooklyn
